Due to the winter Blast of 2012, our open house at Careforce is rescheduled for February 17, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.  

Emergency Preparedness Training

 

The Alliance for Healthy Communities and Home Care Association of Washington are pleased to announce the Readiness Now! campaign, an effort to promote employee personal and professional preparedness for in-home service providers. Encouraging employee preparedness not only increases people’s abilities to fulfill their work responsibilities during a disaster, but also encourages better prepared neighborhoods and communities. Prepared communities are resilient communities.

Readiness Now! provide agency staff a training program to encourage personal preparedness and rewards their efforts for doing so. For every three modules completed by an individual, a corresponding prize will be awarded to aid them in their emergency preparedness efforts. That is a total of 4 prizes that each individual can earn! The on-line training offers a 12 module program that provides the information needed to be personally prepared. All agencies are encouraged to provide this opportunity for staff to establish an emergency plan for their homes and families.

HCAW 2012 Awards Nominations Are Open

2012 is the 19th Anniversary of the HCAW Annual Awards! Please make this the best event your agencies attend. Now is the time to write about your employees or volunteers in home care, home health, or hospice whose service is deserving of honor and recognition. Your staff, colleagues and volunteers deserve our praise. These are the individuals who make your company better by being a part of it. The hardest working contributors to the in-home service industry justly deserve this recognition. These are the people who truly make a difference in the lives of others. These individuals are our quiet heroes who go unnoticed. Let us honor and award them.

It’s time for you to write these deserving names on the attached form. As you write your one page (preferably typed) scenario about these people, reach deep into your heart to tell their stories with some specifics: why they are different, why they stand out, and why they deserve this prestige’s recognition. The more heartfelt a submission is, the better chance that person has in being chosen.  Agenices must be HCAW members in order to nominate.

Applications must be completed by a member in your agency and postmarked, emailed, or faxed to HCAW by Thursday, March 15, 2012. Each agency may submit only one nominee per category. The Awards Committee will review the nominations and choose one winner from each category. The awards will be presented at a special luncheon on Thursday, April 26, 2012 during our Spring Conference. If you want a real treat, be sure to attend the luncheon to feel the excitement, witness the humility, and see the pride on the faces of the recipients and their respective agencies. On this day everyone is a winner! This day makes all of us proud!

Home Care Aide Certification Training

The Home Care Association of Washington is proud to announce that it is joining with PRN, INC. to bring you Home Care Aide Certification training. The training will include regularly scheduled web based classes and on-site skills training/competency testing at 5 sites statewide. This partnership between HCAW and PRN, INC. brings you a quality program that is already state approved at an affordable price. There will be monthly web based classes and regularly scheduled skills/competency testing. As the need increases, additional classes will be scheduled and advertised.

You will need to register for both the on line courses and the on-site skills testing. This allows you to choose the schedule and site that is most convenient for you.

Participants who have successfully completed the training program will receive an official Certificate of Completion from HCAW/PRN,INC.
